'B' Company Celebrating the Winning of the Champion Company Cup

Sitting in front of Commandant Colonel THICKNESS is Jim PURDY's late friend, Apprentice CSM Gordon PICKARD (48B).

Standing to the right of the commandant is 'B' Company CSM, 'Dum Dum' LAWRENCE Coldstream Guards,

so called because, when shouting: "left, right, left, right, ..." he used to just shout: "dum, dum, dum, dum, ..."

“I passed-out of AAS Harrogate in 1952 and was posted to the Royal Corps of Signals, in which I served until 1972 with little distinction, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. However, I enjoyed my time and well remember Pennypot Lane (Uniacke Barracks) in Harrogate.

In my retirement in Swindon I am currently restoring a BMW motorbike. A regular rider of Triumphs during the 1950s and 1960s, especially a 1959 and 1960 'Bonneville' and a 1962 600cc 'Trophy', I finally owned a Honda whilst serving in Singapore during the 1960s.”
