The following medals were presented to me for High Jump
skills, long since forgotten. They are dated 1954/55 and 1956 respectively.
Memory tells me that they were competed for at the Aldershot and Chepstow
quadrangular meetings though Lord only knows which is which. The
inscription Relays is on all
three medallions and in fact all three contain a high jumper on one side
and the AAS badge on the other. I thought this could best be illustrated by
reversing one of them. I believe the term Relays in this instance was the categorization of certain field
events in the overall scope of events competed for.

July 2013 50th Arborfield
Old Boys Association Reunion.
|
|
I had a very pleasant experience as a result of the
reunion in that Doug Mathews (53B) was over from Australia to attend and we
managed a few hours get together. On his journey back to Portsmouth from
the hotel, he deviated to my home where I was able to entertain him and
catch up on a bit of news covering 1956 to the present. Of course the time
went far too quickly and there seemed a lot more we could have talked
about, but I think we both very much enjoyed the brief time and look
forward to another get together in the future.
