Subject: Terry King 49B RIP   Tue Feb 22, 2011 8:35 pm

I received the following message today, 22 February 2011. It came as a complete shock as just two days earlier I had received an e-mail from Terry with some news and a photo.

My thoughts are with his wife Leni and family at this dark hour for them.

'Trevor,

My name's John Kelly, ex 49B Chepstow. I became a good friend of Terry King 49B Arborfield. I visited him and his wife in Osnabruck Germany.

For the last few years we would meet up at Scarborough where he spent his holidays.

It is my sad duty to relay a message I received this morning from his wife. Terry died last night. Would you please publish this on your web for his many mates to know of.

Thanks John'

How very sad Trevor. I never had the pleasure of meeting Terry but have heard of him from multiple sources. From the sound of things his demise was sudden and very unexpected, which must have devastated his wife and family. Maggie and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to Leni and the family and friends that will now be struggling to come to terms with the absence of a good man. As always, our fraternity is much the poorer for his loss. It is an especially bitter loss for those of 49B, who have lost a good companion and mate from the origins of their common heritage.

Most grateful thanks to John Kelly of 49B Chepstow, for his timely advice of Terry's passing. Very much appreciated John.

RIP Terry. Greg and Maggie.

Yesterday I received a card from Leni giving me details of the funeral of Terry. I have copied it and attached. I was unable to fly out to Osnabruck to attend. We have phoned, sent flowers to Leni, and a card of sympathy, I only wish I had felt up to the journey. Leni has her relatives and friends for comfort so she is not completely alone.

I know I shall miss him very much, we conversed by Skype at least once a week and he was always sending me funnies that he received from God knows Where! He was a valued friend.

Thanks for letting all of his friends and acquaintances into the sad news.

Regards from  John Kelly

Remember me when I’ve gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land,

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more, day by day,

When you tell me of the future that you planned.

Only remember me, you understand

It will be too late to counsel or to pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve,

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

Though Terry has returned to H.Q. we will be able to keep him with us, and in our thoughts, through the contributions he made to the web site.  He penned his Memoire and contributed photographs of his life at the Arborfield AAS and beyond. They are interlinked and can be accessed from………
