Get
some in George - you have at last caught us up. Some of us got
there only a few days before.
Many
Happy Returns and may your cohorts do you in style today, although I don't
expect you will get much time to work your mouse, just your arm!
I
had a surprise on Saturday the 22nd May when I & Thea joined my daughter and son, and his wife at Lutterworth for a quiet lunch at a local hotel to
celebrate my 70th. After an hour quaffing a celebratory drink or two and
just about to go in for meal we were suddenly invaded by three old timers
of our 49B vintage complete with wives! I thought I had managed to escape
from behaving myself but it was not to be.
I
am told it put some more years on my face - for a moment of course.
Yes, you guessed it, Gordon Bonner & Muriel, Pete Henry &
Doreen and Dick Wright and Carole. It was a great day which ended sometime
through midday Sunday.
I trust the FEOFA will do you well too. Who would have believed in '52
when we all parted company to live another fifty two years, that some of
them would seek you out to drink all your booze once again! It was a
great treat however and not to be missed for all the world.
Here's one from me

I hope that you have a
good one.

find enough candles so this will have to do!)

Today,
George Millie, AKA Pacemaker, enjoyed his Seventieth Barfday.
Four other couples attended for the celebration. Roy and Kay Ashman, Reg and Vera Harper, Robin and Jeanette
Lamont, plus Maggie and myself. So he had Abdul, Dusty and Ruggus right on his case!
The
round trip to Toowoomba for the Ashman's, the Harper's and we Pex, is in excess of 300 kilometres. It was well worth
the trip and I have to say that George was beautifully roasted and toasted
by the assembled character assassins. It was a brilliant day, despite
weather warnings to the contrary and the venue chosen by George and Marion did us just
proud. The "Coffee Shop" of Toowoomba lived up to the highest
standards of Aussie cuisine and the table wines were superb too.
We
all had a great day up there in the high country with George and Marion and
it was just great to touch base again with the Lamont's, who presently
dwell in Toowoomba and at one time served in "Singers" with the
Millie's. When George is 140 we plan to do it all again....
Wouldn't
have missed it for quids.
Happy Barfday George mate and
congrats on coming of age at last. Now you can really throw your 18+ card
away!

and Maggie et al.

Thanks
one and all. Marion and I as usual enjoyed the company of our dearest friends
who were instrumental in making the day a very special event. One's wealth
is NOT a measure of one's material possessions and the volume of one's bank
account - it is the love of one's family and genuine friends. In this
regard I am amongst the wealthiest of men on the planet. Already saving for
my 140th!
As
usual, in the fullness of time, there will be a full report, with
photos, on the Sep49ers web site.

George,
Do
hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.I did try
yesterday to post a message, but with computers, as usual nothing happened.
So
once more, Happy Birthday, but this one is a belated one.
I
hope you and the rest of the FEOFA members had a wondrous time, and I have
no doubt they did you proud along with the girls.

What
a grand day it was. The trip up to Toowoomba is in itself worthwhile
especially on such a warm and sunny winters day.
With
five OFs and our ladies to keep us in check the
day was a huge success, sitting in the restaurant with some of Oz’s best
food and wine it brought home to me what a special kind of friendship we
have.
George
was in fine form and his humour is worth bottling, backed up by the
ever effervescent Peckus Delectus
the whole day was a hoot.
The
proceedings went off without a hitch thanks mainly to some quiet
planning by Marion who is a living treasure.
Many
Happy Returns George.

&Vera.

I wish you a happy birthday George. Despite our past differences
and my expulsion from AOBA and Sept.49ers I cannot let an old Arborfield
colleague achieve his three score years and ten without wishing him well and
`congratting` him.
Good luck old timer and my sincere best wishes.
Regards,
Cliff.
I will be 73yrs old on the 4th July.

Thank you all for your cards, good
wishes, unique gifts, and particularly for your company. Your presence made
it a very special occasion and it must rank as being the best 70th
birthday I have ever celebrated.
Reg and Vera, I haven't slept a wink all night
thinking about where I will hang that beautiful FEOFA HQ plaque, and in the early
hours was moved to silently shout: "Eureka!" Today it will take pride of
place on the wall, above the settee, in "The Mess". It may,
after very careful consideration, be joined by The Rogues' Gallery currently
taking pride of place in the dining area.
Gerry and Margaret, "The Advanced Aids For The Elderly"
I am certain will be of considerable interest to our local Chemist.
Perhaps he will know of a medical technician who will be able to follow the
detailed plans and instructions and produce the goods. The set of videos will
provide us with over nine hours of entertainment during the interminable
repeats currently being shown on TV - what a blessed relief!
Dusty and Kay, The beautifully crafted
bookmark is to be laminated to preserve it for posterity, and I will very
much enjoy reading the book. Marion
is already occupying second place in the queue.
Well folks, we haven't as yet received a
letter of demand: "Don't come back!" from the Coffee Club so we
mustn't have been too unruly. We hope you enjoyed your lunch and didn't
return home hungry.
Love to you all,
George and Marion
