Saturday.  The March Out Through Our Gates.

Passing out on the completion of our training, 6 Div marched off the parade ground to the sound of the bands playing ‘Auld Lang Syne’.  It would seem to be the most appropriate tune as we marched out for the last time through our Arborfield Gates.  This version starts quietly but builds up to a full blooded sound of both pipes and military bands.

There was a plan to march up the hill and back to Bailleul, but bearing in mind who was marching, reality set in and Plan B was instigated.

No matter how far up the ladder of success you climb, never forget that you started as an Arborfield Boy and Major General Ian Dale C.B.E. honours that memory by marching out of the gates with members of his intake of 74B.

And so they kept coming.

Even those not marching were determined to take part in the final act.

But you can’t keep Arborfielders down for long, so we all trooped back in through the gates.
